The Solution

Tuffdip is a specially formulated bituminous solution which seals out moisture and seals in any chemical treatment.  Bitumen and tar have been used for millennia as a means of protecting timber from the ravages of water.

Industry research by the Timber Research & Development Association has established that timber kept below 20% moisture content is less susceptible to fungal decay.

Simply put - dry timber doesn't rot.

Easily applied by dipping to the required depth plus 4" /100mm, Tuffdip is water-soluble when wet but dries to a tough, non-porous skin bonded to the timber. Tuffdip can be also be brushed on.

Suitable for all soil types and conditions, Tuffdipped posts can be driven into stony ground without damaging the moisture resistance.

Tested by the Netherlands authorities whose anti-leaching legislation is the strictest in Europe, the bitumen base has been found to be inert and suitable for use around watercourses and near sensitive plants. Tuffdip is non-hazardous, non-toxic, inexpensive and easy to use.
